The Downtown Eastside Centre for the Arts invites you and your organization to join us for this session that will provide details about the Community Quilt Project. Our goals are to bring together diverse groups and individuals in the neighbourhood, to provide opportunities to develop their creative expression, and to encourage and build connections and relationships within the community.

June 16 at 5:30pm
at the Interurban Gallery
1 East Hastings at Carrall Street

The Downtown Eastside Centre for the Arts will create an environment to assist participants in transforming their ideas into tangible works of fabric art. Everyone is welcome. No experience is necessary. Participants will be provided with all the materials needed. Workshop facilitators will help participants with sewing techniques. Each quilting group or individual participating will commit to designing and creating a fabric art panel that measures 3 feet by 6 feet.

Community groups can quilt at the Interurban Gallery and in their own space.

This is an opportunity to participate in a collaborative program which creates connections between distinct communities and individuals in the Downtown Eastside and surrounding Vancouver community.

The Community Quilts will be exhibited at the Interurban Gallery in October 2009 and finish with an auction fundraiser on October 29, 2009.

The project is currently running.
Quilts should be submitted by October 2, 2009.

The workshops are held at the
Interurban Gallery 1 East Hastings Street
Every Monday and Tuesday afternoon
from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
